This is a recording of an Acorn Woodpecker, or Melenerpes formicivorous, is in the Picidae Family. The recording was taken near Williamson Gallery on Scripps’ Campus. It was taken in the morning which is why you don’t hear many outside noises besides the white noise caused by a vent near by. This captures an Acorn Woodpecker’s call, noted by its simple acoustic structure, which is used as a warning or communication between parent and offspring.
